Manufacturer: Cadila, India
Pharmaceutical name: Enalapril
Pack: 15 pills (5 mg)
The active ingredient in Envas is Enalapril Maleate, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor utilized to address hypertension in both adults and children over the age of one month, with the aim of reducing blood pressure. By lowering blood pressure, the risk of both fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular incidents, notably strokes and heart attacks, is diminished. Additionally, it aids in slowing the advancement of heart failure and lowers the likelihood of myocardial infarction.
Envas is prescribed for managing high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, kidney issues stemming from diabetes, and to enhance survival rates following a heart attack. It belongs to a class of medications known as ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Envas treats several conditions, including renovascular hypertension and various stages of heart failure. For patients with symptomatic heart failure, Enalapril Maleate is indicated to: enhance survival rates, slow the progression of heart failure, decrease hospital admissions due to heart failure, and prevent the onset of symptomatic heart failure. In asymptomatic individuals with left ventricular dysfunction, Enalapril Maleate is utilized to: delay the onset of symptomatic heart failure, minimize hospitalizations related to heart failure, and prevent coronary ischemic events in those with left ventricular dysfunction.
Envas is also effective in reducing the frequency of myocardial infarction and in diminishing hospitalization for unstable angina pectoris.
The suggested starting dose of Envas is 5 mg once daily, with the standard maintenance dosage being a single 20 mg tablet administered once daily. The dosage should be tailored to fit the individual patient's needs, up to a maximum of 40 mg per day. Take Envas precisely as prescribed; do not exceed the amount or duration recommended by your healthcare provider. Your doctor may periodically adjust your dosage to ensure optimal benefits from Envas.
In individuals receiving treatment for hypertension, side effects have been reported to be infrequent. Seek immediate medical assistance if you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, such as: hives, severe abdominal pain, trouble breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice any of these serious side effects: feeling faint, fainting episodes, changes in urination patterns (more or less than usual, or no urination), fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, paleness, easy bruising or bleeding, rapid or irregular heartbeats, chest pain, swelling, or rapid weight gain.
